Fistula comes in all shapes and sizes and it can occur in any
organ and at any place inside the body. That is why treatment of
fistula differs with different causes of fistula and the extent
of damage caused by fistula. Treatment of fistula is a
multipronged process and requires both surgical intervention and
antibiotic therapy.
There is no home treatment to fistula and you definitely need to
see the doctor .the doctor after a serious of tests and
examination would determine the extent and path that the fistula
takes through the tissue.
Normally surgery is the best possible method as it may be
painful but it is the most safest solution. This is because it
necessitates adequate drainage of the fistula as a result of
which there is no puss formation. The drainage is done by
placing a chord through the path of the fistula to keep it open
from draining. However surgery for anorectal fistulae is not
without side effects, including recurrence, reinfection, and
incontinence.
However simple surgery is not enough without proper medication
and diagnosis. Hence simple diagnosis is not recommended. On the
first look it looks effective but in the long run its not as the
fistula tend to grow back again. In almost 50% of the cases the
fistula tends to grow back if the surgical treatment is done
withought proper medication. |
